It is shame for the Indian Cricket, Indian Cricketers Sreesanth, Chandila and Ankit Chavan was arrested on yesterday for Spot-fixing. These three players belong to Rajasthan Royals team. They received up to 60 Lakh for one over for giving runs as per the bookies agreement.
On Wednesday Rajasthan played a match with Mumbai Indians, after the match police arrested Sreesanth at his friend’s house. Also they arrested another two young players Chandila and Chavan who are also involved in the spot fixing. Police arrested 11 bookies one of them is a friend of Sreesanth. BCCI suspended the three players.
Rs.60 Lakh for One Over
Bookies offered the players Rs.60 Lakh for giving runs one over as they said. Players gave signals to the bookies like putting the towel in their pant, lifting their shirt and changing wrist bands. After the conversation between players and bookies police confirmed that the players were involved in it.
The Three Matches
Rajasthan Royals played with Pune warriors on 5th May, 9th May with Punjab and with Mumbai Indians on 15th May all these matches were spot fixed by the three players of Rajasthan Royals.
Match-1 with Pune Warriors
This match was spot fixed by spinner Ajit Chandila.
The agreement was Chandila has to give 14 runs in one over, according to the agreement before the beginning of the over he should give a signal to the bookies.
But he forgot to give signal the bookies but he had given 14 runs in that over.
Chandila had returned the money which was given by the bookies as advance of RS.20 lakh for not giving the signals.
Match-2 with Kings XI Punjab
In this match Sreesanth has to give 14 runs in his over.
Before the beginning of that over he should sign by putting his towel in his pant and according to plan he should waste some time before he bowls because the bookies had to bet more money on that over.
In this match Sreesanth had given only 13 runs in his second over.
Match-3 with Mumbai Indians
In this match Ankit Chavan has to give more than 14 runs in his one over. Ankit signaled the bookies with wearing of wrist band. Chandila played a mediator role in between Ankit and Bookies. In this match Ankit had given 3 runs in his first over but in his second over he had given 14 runs in his first three balls after that he gave only one run in three balls.
After the match with Mumbai Indians police was arrested these three players and they are taken to the Delhi court, the court has given all the players and Bookies to the police custody for 5 days. The Police booked cases on cricketers and bookies according to the section 420 and section 120B.
